The World Cup is over. We all really enjoyed the last weeks – and of course we congratulate Spain! As in many other companies the employees of Saab Grintek Technologies South Africa were using the snom ticker. Read about their experiences:

snom: Francois, you are working as IT Infrastructure Manager for Saab Grintek Technologies South Africa and you implemented the snom ticker at your company some weeks ago. Which phones are you using and how many people of your team were following the World Cup via the snom ticker?

Francois: We are using the snom 320, 820 and 870. From the feedback we were getting , around 60 employees made use of the ticker when matches were during working hours.

Why did you implement it? Where do you see the advantages?
It is a functionality of the phones which we wanted to experiment with, and the World Cup ticker was the perfect opportunity to test with and give our employees a continuum of the World Cup.
Some of the advantages are not having to interrupt your workflow to get information. It is at your fingertips. This functionality lends itself nicely to a few scenarios.

Were some of your team also participating in the snom World Cup competition? If you not, would it be an interesting option for you the next time?
No, but next time it would be something we would like to explore.

Geographically, we are far away – but of course we all would like to know what the atmosphere was like right now in South Africa? For example, how did people at Saab South Africa enjoy this big event?
The atmosphere was fantastic! People were getting together informally at homes, pubs, and at big events like soccer city. Soccer shirts were worn, places of work and homes were decorated with the different flags and colors.
Our employees were given the opportunity to attend the big events by closing earlier on the specific days.
