After the success of the inaugural event in 2010, VoiceSA is back by popular demand, with support in the form of platinum sponsorship from snom technology AG. VoiceSA is South Africa’s only voice industry event covering the latest development in business communication solutions and trends in the local telecommunications landscape.

“Following the success of last year’s event, we’re very excited to come on board as Platinum sponsors of VoiceSA 2011. As a leading pioneer of VoIP phones, we’ve been at the forefront of a number of key voice developments in recent years. With the introduction of our complete range of business telephone solutions, we view VoiceSA 2011 as an essential platform for presenting our latest products and solutions to South Africa’s leading telecoms decision makers, said Dr. Michael Knieling, executive vice president of marketing and sales of snom technology AG. “We’re also looking forward to making some major announcements at VoiceSA this year.”

The free one-day conference and networking event has quickly become a popular event amongst the emerging telecoms players in South Africa, and serves as a valuable platform to facilitate open discussion and collaboration around important industry issues.

Last year’s event was attended by over 250 of South Africa’s telecoms heavyweights and industry professionals alike, and included presentations from local and international thoughtleaders on topics ranging from government regulation and fixed mobile convergence to open-source telephony and converged communications.

One of the conference highlights is the technology showcase which takes place in conjunction with the conference, featuring solutions and products from leading brands and solutions providers, including snom’s range of IP phones and Unified Communications solutions.

VoiceSA 2011 will be held on 22 September, at the Bytes Conference Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) and will feature presentations from Rapelang Rabana (TelFree), Wayne Speechly (Internet Solutions), Justin Colyn (MTN Business), and many others.

The event is free to attend, however delegates are required to register at www.voicesa.co.za prior to the event.

Between now and July 1, 2011, snom will be conducting a survey of our VARs and end users as a way to gain some added insight into our user base. We have always prided ourselves on being responsive to our customer base, and in the past, such research efforts have yielded invaluable data, which has gone on to help guide our product plans and operational processes. We humbly request ten to fifteen minutes of your time to complete the survey – it will be worth your while!

All survey respondents will be entered into a chance to win one of three snom 821 desktop phones.
But within the survey, there is an additional offer – we are also looking for verifiable success stories for users of the snom ONE IP PBX (Yellow or Blue editions) or the snom ONE plus IP PBX appliance, in conjunction with snom phones. If you are willing to tell us the details of your successful deployment of our IP PBX, you will be entered into a drawing to win an iPad 2 or one of three snom 870 touch screen desktop phones.

All final survey data will be for our internal use, while successful deployment stories will be drafted for public release, though subjects will have the right to approve the final story. For some examples of our past success stories, see the Georgia Military College or Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.

So take a few minutes today to take our survey – you’ll be helping us and have an opportunity to win some cool prizes!

Whilst talking about recent major trade shows, the snom sales and marketing teams realized that they had all had a strange common experience: Many trade show visitors were really impressed with the snom 870 but clearly expected that a modern design meant a poor quality phone…

First feedback: “Congratulations, this is a very nice design!”

Second feedback: “5-way conferencing via drag and drop? Personalized display customization that easy? Still open standard? And secure?”

Conclusion: “Wow, the 870 seems to be a really great phone!”

This brought us to the question: Why are beautiful things always considered to be less powerful or intelligent than standard or low quality things?
